New To Juicing? Here Are Some Useful Tips!

Just purchased your first slow juicer, or considering getting one? Here are some things that you need to know before you dive into the wonderful world of slow juicing!

1) Wash Your Fruits And Vegetables Before Juicing

Before cutting up and juicing your fruits and vegetables, it’s important that you give them a thorough wash through.

This process ensures that any mild, bruises, dirt and damages parts of the fruits are cleaned off, so as to avoid having them contaminating your juice.

2) Peeling Off The Skin

Skins of certain fruits, such as oranges and grapefruits, contains toxic substances and tastes bitter. Other fruits, such as kiwis, papayas, and pineapples, are sprayed heavily with pesticides, and thus are better off discarded.

3) Drinking The Juice

Fruit and vegetable juices are meant to be consumed in small sips, so take your time to truly enjoy every sip.

As the juice contains a wealth of digestive enzymes, drinking it slowly will greatly aid the digestive process in your body. As such, to fully benefit from your glass of juice, avoid gulping down you juice.

4) Cleaning Up After Juicing

It is important to wash your juicer as soon as you finish juicing to remove any unwanted pesticides or waxy residues, and to  prevent any unwanted bacteria from growing on your juicer.

Plus, pulp and other leftover particles from a mesh strainer are much harder to remove when they’ve dried up, as compared to when they’re still moist.

5) Juice Storage

Juices are best consumed immediately after juicing for maximum nutritional retention, but if you absolutely have to store it, they can only be stored for up to 72 hours.

To maximise its shelf life, store the juice using a glass container with an airtight lid, making sure that you fill it all the way to the brim to reduce the amount of air in the container.

6) Diversify Your Ingredients

The best part about slow juicing is the ability to get creative and mix and match different fruits and ingredients to make juices of varying taste and nutritional quality.

Furthermore, by diversifying the fruits and vegetables you juice, you consume a larger possible variety of nutrients and vitamins.
